No Small Moments

“Love Rolls On”

Sitting on the bank of the Okanagan

Diamonds dancing on the water as she flows

Trees swaying like lovers on a dance floor

School is open, moms are waving as they go

Leaves are changing without our permission

Pinecones loosening their grip so they can fall

The sun is shining cooler than she used to

The moon is taking pictures of it all

Time, invisible, is always with us

Makes me wonder what our hearts are counting on

We frame the moments, reminisce, and feel nostalgic

Replaying scenes from our lives like a favorite song

Love rolls on, love rolls on, love rolls on

Marinas thin as boats are tucked away

Paddleboards lean on rocks, geese watch and play

Candy’s everywhere in time for Halloween

People planning for family on Christmas Day

Puppies have become dogs, and kittens’ cats

Ministers steeped in Advent since the Spring

Fawns have lost their spots, bears looking for food

Before we know, bells of a new year will have their ring

Time does not respect humanity

But it does offer opportunity

To be present, to be love, to be kind

Don’t waste a moment because moments don’t rewind
